WHO WE ARE

Empowering Futures, One Child at a Time

Jalna Education Foundation (JEF) is a nonprofit registered public charitable trust (F6575(JA)). JEF is a secular and non-political organization. JEF was set up in 2008 by several educationists and activists with the aim of improving foundational education in Jalna. JEF has worked over the last 12 years with more than 50,000 students in over 250 schools in Jalna. JEF operates several educational initiatives to improve foundational literacy and numeracy among government school children in Jalna. JEF also supports underprivileged students through scholarships and supplementary school.

What we do

JEF is a registered trust (non-profit) with ongoing work in the following areas:

Foundational Literacy through our Padho Jalna initiaitve

Support for higher education to children from low-income households through JEF Scholarship program

Supplementary education for middle and higher school children through JEF Supplementary School

Improvement in English among under-privileged children through English Vocabulary Development Program in Schools and spoken English classes

Skill development through JEF Computer Lab

Increasing interest in reading through Prabhat Community Center

Science education by providing space for lab experiments through the Science Foundation

About Jalna

Jalna is a district in central Maharashtra in the Marathwada region with a population of over 20 Lakhs. It’s a Tier III city and relatively underdeveloped compared to other parts of the state. There are over 4.5 Lakh children studying in 2430 schools in Jalna
